Lady Huskies Win First Game of the Season

The first game of the season saw the Malone Lady Huskies 12U Hockey team earn a dominating victory. This first win of the season came at the expense of Oswego who falls by the score of 6-1.

The Huskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period. Emma Gibson opened the scoring at 6:36 into the frame unassisted, scoring her first of the season.

Malone moved further ahead at 13:01 mark of the second period when Olivia Cook scored on a rebound off a shot from Julia Perras. The Huskies continued with the momentum at the 11:05 mark when Vail St. Hilaire scored off a great pass from Breigh Nelson. The Huskies lead was at 3-0 going into the third period

The Huskies extended their lead on another unassisted goal by Emma Gibson at the 7:58 mark of the third period, her second of the game. Oswego got on the board at the 7:12 mark, cutting the Huskies lead to 4-1. Abby Monette got onto the score sheet at 6:25 mark with a pass to Vail St. Hilaire who cut through the defensemen and tucked the puck home, for her second of the game, giving the Huskies a 5-1 lead. Olivia Cook was the third player to notch two goals in the game when she scored with 4:39 left in the third period off a pass from Whitney St. Hilaire. The score ended up 6-1, with a great effort by both teams.

Rylee Fletcher had 18 saves in net for the Huskies.

Malone's next game will be at home when the Huskies host Oswego on October 30th at 9:50am.
